Though my fascination with flash fiction has continued unabated, I haven’t been writing any recently because I was focusing on another project: a story for a mate, which is now complete. It was a touch shy of 16 K, which might not sound much to novelists –they’d just be warming up– but since most of my forays are around 100 to 300 words it was quite the epic.
A while back, I got a macro lens for my camera, so here’s a picture post of some bugs and flowers that I’ve taken.
A caterpillar we shot today riding to school
A cicada breaching
Free at last
The empty casing, with a visitor
A sleeping snail
A colourful caterpillar
A tiny new frog
It’s all about perspective. The sprouting leaf is tiny to us, but huge to the nearby ant on the wire
A leaf up close
Rain on leaves
When you gotta go… (that’s not rain)
Simulated rain once more (this time by pouring water)
I used this picture as an illustration for a piece on Prose
A praying mantis
