I hadn’t really got into Flash Friday, I was a bit awed by the numbers of participants. For the final run of it, the prompt was the opening line to a 100 word piece: On Friday everything changed. There was also an optional picture prompt:
On Friday everything changed. Before then, transubstantiation had always involved bread and wine, not the reinforced concrete that made up the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Over the next few hours, things got complicated, fast. Other religious statues also came alive, and they started to battle. People panicked, but faithful and heathen alike were ignored.
The carnage was great, and soon gods began to drop. In the end, it was down to Vishnu and Anubis when a nuclear strike was finally called, concerns over what would happen when only one remained. All seemed safe, until the first dragon took flight.
